Refugee Studies

Refugee Studies is an interdisciplinary field of academic inquiry that focuses on the experiences, conditions, and rights of refugees and forcibly displaced persons. It examines the causes and consequences of forced migration, including conflicts, persecution, environmental disasters, and systemic inequalities. The field encompasses various aspects, such as the legal frameworks surrounding refugee status, the socio-economic challenges facing refugees, their integration and resettlement processes, and the impact of host communities. Refugee Studies draw from disciplines such as sociology, political science, law, anthropology, and international relations to understand the complexities of displacement and the responses required to address the needs of refugees. The aim is to inform policy, improve humanitarian responses, and contribute to the protection and empowerment of displaced populations.
